EVE Online
Anyone playing EVE online?
Now most of my gang are there, may give it a try again. It is again one of those "family man" game, where you can play relax and at your own pace. In MMORPG, it jumped back to first spot, although this is a old game. BTW, it is not for those cheongsters, since this game is much too complex. More suitable for us uncles and those who enjoy more strategies than pew pew. |

RE: EVE Online
Very tempted as I have a thing for space based games, but it's quite a lot of mindless farming no?
Most competitive players run multiple accounts with bots. And it's sub-based! |

RE: EVE Online
Errr...mindless farming? I don't think so.
I just played a little so don't know yet. But previously I tried Pirates of the Burning Sea and Freelancer, I think EVE is a combination of both games. I do not think there is farming at all. OK, let's say for skill. You just queue the skills and then they will automatically train, over time. So, it is always passively there. I guess the multi-account / bot is there for the training of the different skills, not mindlessly doing repetitive stuff. For money (ISK), you can do mining, exploration, R&D, salvaging, pirating, trading, crafting,...so many different ways. So, there is no such thing as farming. It is a virtual world out there. Usually people complain about the steep learning curve for this game. Also, I think there are no land battles yet, only ship battles. |

RE: EVE Online
Right now, I am training myself as a Electronics Warfare (EW) specialist.
I am still noob, but from the description, seems like a support / cc class from fantasy point of view. There are different types of EW for different race, I chose the Caldari which is the most popular for EW. For this race, you need to choose the enemy race jammer and you can unlock his target and make him unable to target ships... Also, discovered that now they have "certificates". Actually they do nothing, but these certificates are just a guide to let you know whatever job you want to do, what are the required skills you need. It is great for noobs to plan our skills training. Combat is not so easy as pew pew. Some expert players say, this game combat is 50% tactic, 25% skill and 25% equipment. So, even if you are flying a frigate (the smallest ship), you are able to take down a bigger ship if played right. |

RE: EVE Online
Finally completed my 21 days free trial. Not so bad, only blown up 3 ships...
![]() Signed up for a 6-month sub. Well, my corp is small so didn't amount too much. However, Richard got in touch with me last night, and we were in the "kopitiam channel" and "singapore eve" channel. I am surprised by so many players there. At all times (even 1am), there are like more than 20 person online in this channel, mostly from LOLE. So, whoever new is interested, can come in anytime, I guess there will always be company here. |

The expacs are free and they will continue to be free i believe.
Are there a lot of sgers in this game atm? I tried the trial a while ago and I really like the elite+privateer game type setting. Didn't see much activity in kopitiam and eve singapore channels so I didn't suscribe after my trial. |

RE: EVE Online
I just started 3 days ago.
Hadas is also ingame :) I like what i see so far. And very likely to sub it. The first time i saw it was 7 years ago. its a diff animal now. The gfx is surprisingly very high and current. It's a HUGE universe with endless possibilities and yet u dun feel a sense of pressure to rush and chiong. The skill system sort of make sure of that.lol The "kopitam" and "Singapore eve" channel is ok. not so active but got ppl. Bibi da' Birgin |

I think I'll give it another go then. I already got 2 trial accounts but I read now got buddy program and the referer get 1 mth free?
If so, can someone refer me then you can get 1 mth free when i sub lol. Frankly, I really like the offline skill levelling system too, don't have the pressure of having to log in to do dailies etc everyday otherwise cannot compete with ppl stuff. |

Do check with Richard, he is the old bird here. Hey, Leshrec. The channels are usually quiet but if you say something there, people will respond. I think a guy call Ming Jen is quite helpful. Yep, I also feel it is an extension of Privateer, with less arcade and more tactics / management. If nobody else offers you the 21-day, let me know. |

RE: EVE Online
Hadas,
The 21 days trial have to get someone with full account to refer you, like refer a friend system in wow. Then once you sub for 1 mth, the person who refer u get 1 mth free. Thats why I want to offer someone in COK to refer me so i can give a kaki 1 mth free lol. The only thing is have to be a new account, so if you got the exisiting 14 days trial i don't think can get ppl to refer you and have to start a new account. Richard or Thyrus on sub account right? Do let me know what you need for referral and I'll pm you the stuff. Prob just the email like most other games but I'm not sure. |

RE: EVE Online
I am playing slowly. Going thru all the noob missions to get to know the game more.
So far I like what I see. This game really very deep, and kinda overwhelming when I just started. My 1st trial account I quitted after 1 hour becoz couldn't tahan so many words to read on the game screen. Then I read more and decided to try the trial a 2nd time. I oso quite high chance will subscribe a short period. Like wat Bibi said, the best aspect of this game is, there is no real pressure. |
