Looking to test my SOCKS proxy's speed etc.
It is FREE but you have to be a member of this forum whom I trust.
Not for Copyright infringement please. This proxy is in the US. If you screw me on this, I will hunt you down
What can you do with it?
Lower your gaming ping with better packet routing. Works with most games and MMORPGs. Tested successfully with Aion and WOW.
Access blocked sites like maybe Playboy.com or whatever (you better be 21!)
Increase streaming/download/surf speeds with sites like Youtube.com, various US based sites or maybe even other foreign sites. May not be true for all sites... really depends on how well you route to those websites right now.
All I ask for is that you play nice with it and that you let me know how it performs.
I will also use it for load/stress/bandwidth testing and monitoring etc but will not directly monitor what you do although it will be logged so play nice. Just avoid the pirated/warez/illegal stuff like child porn etc. Normal porn is fine.
Let me know by PM if interested.
Thanks.

Huh? Really become Shaolin monk?
Zan using the proxy can watch TV show on Hulu.com ?
I am playing WoW, does this proxy help that?
Yeah Zan.
Nowadays pr0n site everywhere no need this type of service.
However, interested to know if it really helps in gaming.
Nowadays Singtel soooooooo slow.
Would like to try it out though.

You should be able to.
But don't watch whole day lah!
Wait my bandwidth all gone.
Watch an hour or two ok lah.

Just tried.
Seems like Hulu.com won't display to Socks/SSH proxies.
BUT my VPN fools it just fine.

Nothing ever fails on the VPN. Kekeke. 1024bit encryption... totally anonymous... can't be sniffed. Just a slight bit slower.
Want to test my VPN too? :D
(16-09-2009 09:02 AM)yeoea Wrote: [ -> ]I am playing WoW, does this proxy help that?
Yes it does.
It lowered my Aion ping from 700ms to 360ms.
It lowered Tozswor's WOW ping from 590ms to 300ms.
What's your ping on WOW?
I will setup a login for you if you're interested to try.
I'm welcoming testers anyway.

Sure it does. See above.
What game will you be using it for?
Does it run only an .exe executable?
Sure sure wanna try the VPN ... i wanna watch Burn Notice
and a few others only.
these thing used up your bandwidth ah
lucky i never download stuff with your proxy,
i wanted to tried one when your 1st post said
faster download hehe

Sure it uses some bandwidth if you watch for many hours lah kekeke.
If only 1-2 hours a day still ok lah I think.
I should have 250 GB bandwidth per month.
Like I said... go ahead and download stuff and tell me how the speed is.
If you keep downloads to less than 1GB a day... should not be a problem. Want to download more than that... PM me first and let me know. I will see how.
I suspect that the reason why Firefox works better with VPN rather than Socks/SSH proxy is that VPN wraps your whole PC in a secure bubble. Any data leaving it is forced into an encrypted tunnel. That means even java.exe in Windows dir and maybe many DLL files are forced to send any data at all thru the VPN too.
Same reason why any game will work with a VPN with no special config but it will be somewhat slower than a good Socks/SSH proxy because it has to spend time on processing encryption etc.
While only Firefox.exe is being wrapped by the Freecap socks wrapper.
hehe just wanted to test the download speed
luckily i didnt waste your bandwidth

You want to download huge file ah?
Download less than 1gb no problem lah.
Do it and let me know the speed leh.
I've hit 200+KB/S before.
quite big files around 400MB
it is a videocast of CO-OP show
which talk about console games
but dun waste your bandwidth lah

Bro, don't be so polite with me lah.
I told you liao. Less than 1gb is fine.
But you only using tonight right?
I'm gonna restart server soon.
Tozswor,
Check your PM.
I have configured your certs for access to my VPN.
Info in PM. Good thing about my VPN server is that it is ALWAYS up... even if I bring proxies down for testing and configuration purposes.
The only time its down is when I reboot server.
One thing to keep in mind is that VPN will be slower for gaming. May not see any improvement over normal connection at all. Try it and confirm this for me please. It will be slightly slower overall compared to proxies but you can get to any site you want... and run any program you want. Nothing will block you or fail you. It's hard to say whether it will offer any benefits over normal connection if you don't need access to blocked sites though. Try and let me know.
ok i download the program and config
i install the program and move the config into the config folder
now how to start the vpn ?
do i right click on the *.opvn in the config
and click Start OPENVPN on this config file
can liao ?

Oh crap Tozswor, I think I linked you the one with no GUI huh? Got no OpenVPN gui in the windows tray?
If this is so... uninstall it and reinstall from here.
http://openvpn.se/files/install_packages...nstall.exe
Copy the config files into the config folder again.
Then you can just right click on the icon and choose connect.
EASIER!!
Sorry for oversight. My brain is in 3 places.

BTW my server seems to have gone down... maybe a connection issue on host side. Will update when its back up.
Openvpn is an installed service so it will get back up on its own once server is up... but I will need to restart proxies as still testing mode.
ok hehe it didnt work just now, must be like you
said the sever is down. will try again later when
your server is up

I started on this because I was sick of paying money for crappy quality or speeds. You can look at my history here with VPNs for fun. The better ones cost a chunk (S$100 for 3 months plan, S$50 monthly) and not all of them were really that good. The cheaper ones... well no comment.
So I decided to take things into my own hands and save myself some money even maybe. And here I am. If there's any potential for more... well, I'm open to possibilities.

ok i tested the proxy and vpn on wow
with singtel and starhub mobile broadband
at around 11.30pm
using singtel with proxy and no proxy not much
difference at 300+ms with vpn is around 400-500+ms
using starhub no proxy and vpn is around 400+ms
with proxy is 300+ms
will try agin tomorrow at lunch and dinner to see if it
is because of less users at midnight hehe
Eh... thought you said your ping on WOW was around 580+ms before? Which ISP was that or was it Peak hour? So the latency is different based on the hour due to traffic yesterday?
Anyway, VPN should not help when it comes to gaming. It's for people who need privacy or who are living in countries with censorship. You just confirmed it for me... thanks!
Lastly, I have finally managed to Jail SSH users. Do you have putty? Download it and then I will tell you how to set it up... then use the encrypted SSH proxy. Some swear its the best speed. For ppl like me in China, its the best proxy liao... cannot be blocked by CN govt due to encryption yet fast enough... faster than VPN.
I can stream youtube HD Aion videos without any pause now! (well I could before but I wasn't going to hand out un-Jailed SSH access to everyone, no offence to you the pervs!) Woot! VPN will pause here and there. Socks proxy could do it too but would get blocked by their deep packet inspection filters.

VPN sure slower so no need to test anymore for gaming.
Singtel has a better route to your WOW server so not much diff probably at off-peak hours.
Quote:using starhub no proxy and vpn is around 400+ms

Like I have always thought... Singtel has better latencies. Looks like the proxy did its job here. Regulating the 400+ms back to 300+ on Starhub.
Ultimately, the thing is to find the best servers for your target audience. I have one more in mind which should be interesting. Just under 200ms pings to both China and Singapore.
Continue to test please!
Check out my SSH proxy next.
ps. Also test streaming videos on youtube.com leh.
