Hi guys,

I am currently running on Nvidia 9600GT(One DVI port which is being utilized now & One HDMI port which is unused), LG L1953TR 19 inch LCD monitor.

I have intention to get a PS3 & a big monitor which would double up as my TV (for PS3)

I wanted to run dual screen on my current 19inch LCD and my new monitor TV.

Any idea which brand/model of the monitor I should be looking at ? It must be able to fully maximize my PS3 performance as well as between 22inch - 26inch. Price wise, below 800 if possible.

You going to dual screen? I've always felt that dual screen works best on 2 LCDs of the same size. If different size... looks kinda weird... hard to adjust to from experience.

As for LCD... I did some checking out models myself and from the selection available here in Shanghai... read a number of reviews and settled on the Dell G2410 for now until I find something better. It has LED backlighting. Not the same as LED tv of course but better than the average TN panel.
Dell.com.sg selling it at S$399.00 incl delivery. So not expensive at all.
26" LCDs you definitely pay a premium so up to S$800 is good for one.
I will be getting it for about S$380 in Shanghai.

I'm still amazed how things can be cheaper in Shanghai.
Fuwell in SLS is selling the Razer Deathadder at S$89, I think.
I can get it for about S$63 here.
Dell's 24" is pretty good. I bought it around 800+ like a yr ago together with Birgin, no regret so far. Now the newer 24" model is only $359 if u order online. Dunno abt the other brand/model now but I personally find Dell LCD good value for money. Same applies to their notebooks (didn't use them until I joined my current coy, really very good value for money).

S$359? That another model huh?

Ziltus , the one we bought at a promotional price(without the hdmi). model 2408WFP-HC is no more in production liao. The new 2408WFP is close to $800

To get full HD experiemce. minimum is 24"
Samung , LG and Dell makes good 24" LCD.
The bigger the mon, the more GFX power is need for higher reso.
24" max out at 1920 x 1200, make sure u have the graphic power to support it.
27" or 28" also max out at 1920 x 1200. same as 24". things just looks bigger.
30" is a whole diff experience at 2560 x 1600. if looking for 30", highly recommend HP.

As for external connectivity to PS3, xbox, audio devices etc. Do check out the spec on the mon carefully.
Here's an example from dell. http://www1.ap.dell.com/sg/en/business/w...&cs=sgbsd1
The lower end $300+ doest have composite, HDCP etc. U will need HDCP if u want to view some legit content.

Most ppl will missed checking on the sound aspect of the connection between PC-LCD-Xbox-PS3-Starhub box. Easy way around it is to get a multi-audio input-output box and connect to your speakers.check the plugs and u should be good to go.

just my 2 cents worth. i may have missed out on some stuff above.

As in for DVDs?
Wow, I thought only HDMI had HDCP... did not know DVI had too.
Nonetheless, I'm not really using this for watching DVDs.... mainly for gaming so should be ok for me. Cheap n good.
to get below $800 lcd monitor.. there is lot of brands/models for u to choose.
r u in a hurry in getting it?
cos if i m not wrong next month got IT show again ard september.

Recommanded brand :

Dell/LG/Samsung

OIC. Is the new model at $800 consider cheap or not? The 24" that I saw prolly not ultrasharp then, paiseh. Noface
Not really in a hurry lah, but has been put on hold for a few months liao....

Personal preference, only like LG / SAMSUNG / DELL (After reviews here).

But anyone uses Hanspree before ?

I am using LG 22" LCD. Works great. Might migrate to 24" if budget allows.

Bro, you mean he split the game screen to 3 LCD panels?
Like nview huh? Totally forgot about that for gaming possibilities haha.

1 x 24inch
or
2 x 19 inch (have to be same aspect ratio so in my case 2 x (4:3))

Which is better for gaming?
Graphics card will go for Nvidia GTX 275
for gaming wise.. i recommand 24inch provided ur gcard can support.

n for ur eye-care.....

try not to stay toooo close to ur 24inch. it will affect ur eye-sight.

@zenderion i saw his setup and its really blow my mind away... my table not big enough if not i already chiong 3 x 24 liao....

Do you have a link to that post? LOL My table here is huge but got other issues. Wanna see what he had to use for graphics card. Did they specify? (SLI or Crossfire) 2 cards? 3 cards? Nice is sure nice but also alot of work to get it working and more money, I guess. Seems like you need to edit game .ini to get it to work and some games may work and some may not. Confusing unless you dig in deep. Maybe I stick to 24". Haha.

24inch not that big mah!?

I used to hook up a 32inch LG LCD TV to my laptop and use it for playing Warhammer, Fallout 3, etc. The resolution used was only 1368x768 since it was not a HD set and could not do better but it looked great still and I sat about 1m from it. For its 42-inch brother, I had to sit about 2m from it.

Which model you looking at? I tried to look at 26" models here but like not a wide range while 24" models got alot. Strange.

Eh if your budget is $800... why not add abit more and get this for S$999? 27-inch. That's probably what I would do. For me, my budget only around S$500.
After I spent S$1399 on my Sony 19inch CRT many years ago... I swore never to spend more than S$600 on a monitor ever again. LOL.

Dell UltraSharp™ 2709W
27-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
Anyone seen this monitor by AOC?
Is this a Taiwanese brand?

http://www.aoc-europe.com/en/monitors/tft/26_619Vh.php

Specs look decent... price in China very good for 26-inch leh. Only S$400+.
Wonder where I can have a look at it. 16:10 1920x1200

BTW Feid, if you using for console gaming, you will probably want one with 1:1 pixel mapping to avoid stretching.
Damn Dell 24" or go for one of the 26"?
The Dell has slightly more solid reviews over all but then again it has more reviews.

16:10 1920x1200 this time from Asus.
This one going for about S$550 here.

The new upcoming mmorpg Aion on 3 LCD setup.

http://www.aionsource.com/forum/images-a...files.html

Problem is while it looks bloody sweet... the Field of Vision is screwed. You have the vertical FOV chopped off makig it useless kinda.

So unless they fix this... still better playing it on one 24/26" incd LD than 3 x 19"inch LCDs which was what I was hoping for haha.

Nonetheless, TripleHead To Go is very interesting. Allows you to use 3 LCDs instead of one but the game must support the proper widescreen formats else the FOV will be screwed.

Since I have a 19" LCD now its very attractive to think about buying 2 more 19" LCDs and use resolutions like 3840 x 1024... freaking awsome.

But still need to invest in the device lah.
The best part is most of the good gfx cards these days can support such stuff.
Even a single GTX275 is enough for most games.
sweet~
Nowadays monitor damn cheap, cos PC makers (eg: Dell) are already rolling out touchscreens on their standard PC. Probably great for those playing RTS games.

32" LG below 600sgd? Wow... sounds like a deal!
It will cost me an air ticket to get to the PC show though... so no go for me. Cry
