We will try again on 4/15 (Tuesday) on killing this nasty bastard.
The problem we had is healers gain aggro too fast and got killed in first few heals.
Hokkien is being hit by 6-7k per hit, so healing is unavoidable.
We will try do it on Kakis way, new tactics: 1 MT, 3 healers, 2 dps.
The key to kill this mob is STAY AWAY from the adds, which will not move nor aggro unless u attack them. So Hokkien will keep moving down the slope away from the adds. Healer will stay back to heal him from range.
Hokkien will also try figure out what you can do to increase every possible hate you can get, while healers need to do healing 3k per cast with the lowest aggro you will get.
Dobai will use all his Psi power to lower aggro on the 3 healers, while main DPS comes from Pokako, which she can FD to clear the aggro herself.
Goodluck!
- love those CAP! - Dobai
sounds good.
I would like to kill this beast !!
i'll re-check my HP.. hopefully its not gimped.
If work, we can do it few round to flag everyone, like that PoJ flagging in EQ1, 5 static flagger and the 6th slot keep changing person to be flagged, hehe.
Blood mage usefull to lower damage done on MT. Probably need all the buffing you need including the bear shaman buff for high con/hps. Gotta keep MT alive more than 10 sec of fighting ;)
Not sure if mob regenerates fast or not. If it is, may wanna swap some and increase our dps with bard, rogue or druid for example.
Will be fun to experiement and find out by ourselves how to beat this encounter. Good thing we never lose level in VG unlike EQ1 because after last APW raid and this one, xp bar sure going backwards
Bel / Bint
Looks like there is a server downtime tonight. Will keep trying to log in.

Will have to be 2mmrrow for me .. :(
cya guys on wed
We also need to kick stance I believe, so Pokako will be very busy. Also, I believe we need to dispell/debuff FA as well. These will lower his dmg output.
Hence, I still feel we need 1x tank, 2x healer, 3x dps (including caster), but I'm open to trying Dobai's way.
Best if we bring alts to buff up, those little bits add up to quite a whole lot. If can we reduce his dmg output to 4-5k on Hokkien, life will be easier. Hopefully, Hokkien can hit like 11k HP fully buffed. I saw some postings say that the tank doing this should be around 70% mitigation after buff?
One thing about using Miikos is that I can take 15% of Hokk damage off him. DPS output also heals Miikos. So one other setup we can try is,
Hokk - Tank
Miikos - Blood Pact and Blood Feast turned on, slow heals on DPS group
Zil/Filas - Healer on Hokk
Guiy/Pokako - Melee DPS
Belfazar/Dobai - Caster DPS, dispell, debuff
The last 3 groups can cycle. If this works, Then I can switch to Melee DPS and Caster DPS for Dary and Skar (once Skar is 50).
Meanwhile, I will try to level Miikos higher when we are not going to try FA.
Btw, outsider healing can still be casted on MT even though the healer is outside grp right?
Based on the experience 2 days ago, seems like the damage is much higher than my HoT (which is around 1200hp per tick plus 120+ per atk hit). With HoT on Hokk, I saw his HP suddenly drop to 20-25% with just 1 hit. I think we may need 3 healers chain healing using the fast hit (abt 1.5-2k plus per heal, so 3x will be around 5-7k per round).
We'll see how tonight.
I tried with Miko, I go OOM....coz adds are killing others also....so MT need to know where to move. Need to kick boss also and avoid the AE from boss. No Kick = Massive DMG to whoever it's hitting.
After being truly beaten by the Pharoah in NN, I think we are not even close to ready for FA.
We need to rethink why we can't even get the Pharoah down. Closest we got was 50%.
I think my Mit is not enuff.
Pharaoh is hitting me at 3K+ per hit. That alot!
Now, im thinking and looking at how to increase my mit and HP
Maybe i should respec to maximum Con and try.
2nd, We need more buff?
Shaman's buff was "missing".
My comments, based on the 3 classes I played and switched around,
1. Rogue
- can do DPS but once get mana drain, DPS becomes gimpy
- usually will not take agro from tank due to constant dehate
- I can use my ability and do big hit in the beginning before 1m up and mana drain start
2. Sorceror
- Spells gets resisted
- DPS definitely lower than rogue (my big burst DPS cannot even hit 10k, unlike Dary's)
- After 1 min, casting range shortened by 70%? So I have to come real close to even attack
3. Blood Mage
- Blood feast and Blood pact helps the tank a bit by reducing damage to tank
- Direct heals are slow, around 3s and heals only around 2k HP
- Group heal is defendant on spell hitting (drain life and transfer to target or self), crit, then proc and hope mob do not resist. I noticed I had some being resisted and thus whole group did not get healed
- Normal group heal is 4.5s
When we were doing with guild, we had the following static,
1. Warrior
2. Bard - War Song
3. Monk/Rogue
4. Wolf Shaman
and 2 flaggers.
Maybe we need some outside help, I think ranger will be good for ranged DPS, since the named casts a spell called Light Barrier that does Spiritual Damage to all within 10m? Hits Dary for around 400-500 damage
Outsiders can hit oso? Thot encounter will be locked to grp members only?
lock encounter.
however, we bring in out toons to buff up the group.
I might respecc to max CON as primary attribute and see anybig diff in stats for Mit and HP. Blocking will sure to increase, at least that helps abit.
Bear Shamans for teh win! :P
j/k lah.

Playing Cabal Online...free MMO....hack and slack...kill time haha
When I did Pharaoh with Guild in NN, both Fafa (other guildie Druid) and I managed to kill it easily with our group while it was our turn. Of course this was not an individual effort but they rotated many classes and I can say that each time there was Druid, it went smoothly (within 1 min 30 sec always).
Some possible explanations. Druid could do lots of damage in first min, do not need heal because at range on first min (no distraction for healer) and can heal themselves (can survive AE effect when closer after 1st min) and even if mana drained, can still cast their calamities which comes from a pool of points, not the mana pool.
I did it twice at the time (first time my main inventory was full so could not get update) and each time on first trial.
If you guys recall, whole guild was around and all were fully buffed (from all class types). Still, it initially failed and tank (Mikoo?) was killed fast. Cocoo took MT role but still wiped because lost of aggro. So it was decided that someone would count time in guild chat. First 10 sec, tank only to build aggro, then the dps with the count down in guild chat (every 15 sec or so if I recall) would start [count down was very useful].
Was quite an adrenaline rush. Lost of aggro means dead dps which means impossible to kill mob in 1 min so this is quite critical. You can possibly push dps when mob is down to 20% hps. Dpser must control and do high constant dps versus high burst which would steal aggro.l I suppose they can go for broke when mobs is down 20% or so.
When I did it on bint, I think my survival time ranged from 10 sec to 1 min 45. Lost aggro once or twice but could get it back; biggest problem was that dpser were dying anyway from the shield effect. I was taking 2.7k damage and also a few strikes of 7k damage which made my hp bar look like a roller coaster. Healer had a hard time keeping me alive I think (gotta ask them hehe). Need to increase my mit even higher.
I do not recall we had bothered so much with the pharaoh damage shield when I had done it earlier with Bel but maybe it was because we were hyper buffed? It sure affected us because our dpser died and we did not manage to get mob below 50%.
Ready to retry anytime. Will bring bint for his buffs because hp/ac buff and resist buff do help. Last time, we missed shaman buffs which are quite useful, especially bear for con/hp for the MT.
Maybe can check with Guild bard on type of song he was playing (resist or damage song). I think it was damage song because pokako was really giving him Hell. I think she stayed in group as a static member because her dps stood out.
Dary had to log but he eventually had a good run after some bad starts. Record time was with you no? (1 min 17 sec?).

Bear shamans are certainly useful... end regen, buffs, target debuffs, etc...
However, the bear pet should be able to help take a few hits as well.
Heck, even one hit stolen would be useful if it's for 7k dmg. I can't remember how much hp bear pets have!

If it dies, shaman just recasts another one between heals (as long as he's not only healer). If it doesn't die in one hit, then well it's even more useful as shaman can keep it alive pretty well. The bear pet's snap-aggro will always force mobs to target it pretty often. Extremely useful for taking on nameds and their lieutenants! But I guess this is pretty well known anyway unless things have changed again since I quit VG.
In our next try I will try control Pokako's aggro while doing burst DPS with FD. Been trying that in APW and learnt a good way to control aggro. Bint is actually doing fine on aggro as I remember he stayed alive for 2 mins in our last try. Problem is the damage shield as Bint said above, I remember something about melee at 5m when doing with guild? Possibly thats how to avoid the DS but need try it out.

Pharoah <--- Tank (within 5m from named) <--- Healer/Caster (within 10m from named)
DPS stands on same side as tank. Since Pharoah DS/Mana drain is 10m, healer/caster can avoid both by this positioning. So, everyone face named and casters/healers look at the tank/DPS backside :D
At the same time, heal range are reduced by 75%? So this means that from 25m reduced to around 6m? This positioning will allow healers to heal both tank and DPS (direct heals) and for group heals to hit all members without getting mana drain effect.
So, if Hokk is tanking, no Shadow Step :)
Precor is parked there, so can try anytime he is logged in.
